This Sedona food dehydrator is my first experience at drying food. I eat mainly produce but have always eaten it raw or cooked. This gives me a new way of eating the things I already eat. Of course I have bought packaged dehydrated fruits before, but this is so much fresher.
For my first time, I used a variety of fruits and vegetables. For the fruits it was- apples, cherries, and peaches. For veggies- sweet potatoes and carrots. Most of the items were marinated in either pure maple syrup or honey and cinnamon. I kept it simple and can always try other marinades next time.
The suggested temperature was 110 degrees. The time ranged suggested anywhere from six to sixteen hours, depending on what it was. After ten hours, they were not done yet, so I set it for another four hours on the night time setting and went to sleep. In the morning, most were done, like the sweet potatoes and carrots. The cherries were not even close to being done, and the peaches were still soft. I did not want to have it run all night. Next time, I will change up what I use and how much time.
This model came with 9 stainless steel trays. It is an upgrade of the plastic trays that are also included. There is also a sheet to catch any drippings and a drying sheet included. The manual said optional on the drying sheet but it came with this model.
All the controls are digital and easy to program. There is a day/night mode switch for a quieter fan. The unit can be either used for the whole nine trays or for top or bottom use, with a setting for that. This is a big unit. Almost the size of a microwave. Consideration of a permanent space for it is needed.

After using for several years, cons outweigh the pros. Pros limited to programmable controls over the Excalibur brand. However the cons are multiple. 1 – limited spacing between shelves results in any food that tends to curl during drying will get caught, requiring fewer shelves to be used, lowering efficiency. 2 – Excessive thickness of standard plastic shelves reduces usable vertical space for drying. 3 – Air flow through standard plastic shelves is restricted and their higher relative thermal mass increases drying times over Excalibur. 4 – Standard plastic shelves are very difficult to clean due to deep honeycomb pattern on back side of the shelves. 5 – Top of door tends to get stuck when attempting to close the door due to warpage along bottom hinge. Overall, I still prefer my 5 shelf Excalibur over the Sedona.

Delivered quickly, very well packaged. It is simple and easy to use, works quietly, dries quite quickly. We dried figs and pears. We are very pleased with the result. Anyone who cares about their health simply must have such a dryer.
