It’s a very simple kettle and it boils quickly. Came in very handy and saved money on a recent trip. Great for tea or coffee bags and to heat water for instant oatmeal. It did not smell of silicon. I would have given it 5 stars if it was dual-voltage, as advertised, but it is not.
