i have been using this unit for about 3 months, cleaning it regularly (every use) today as i went to use it, and found these tiny holes in the main chamber. I dont know how the wholes were made, but it seems as if they’re a chemical reaction? all of the water spilled and pooled on the table, which did some damage. it was good while it lasted, i guess.

I use a CPAP and became frustrated with the stores often being sold out of distilled water to use in it. I’ve made 3 gallons with this so far and no problems. Takes about 3.5 to 4 hours to produce a gallon. About the size of a very large coffee maker. Lots of yuck and powdery mineral residue left behind in distiller tank when done, so I know it is doing what it is supposed to. Comes with a packet of citric acid crystals to clean the tank when done, which is very easy. Also comes with some activated charcoal packets. Instructions don’t say where to put this, but the only place would be in the metal spout. I’m not sure why I would need to use charcoal filtering on water that has just been distilled. Perhaps for taste, but I’m not using this for drinking. It puts out a fair amount of heat, so I suggest using it in a cooler room if possible. My only reason for not giving it a full 5 stars is I don’t know what the durability of this will be over time. It shuts off when completed using the same mechanism a rice cooker does: When the water boils away, the temperature rises and a thermal cutoff shuts the heater off.

We bought a Chauvet Cumulus fog machine for our outdoor Halloween setup. The machine uses 2 gallons of Distilled water an hour so buying it from the store is a bit costly. We looked at many options and decided to try this unit. The unit at the current price per KW is using about .38 per gallon of water made. That means each unit has to make 65 gallons to break even. We have made 50 gallons so far with each machine (bought 2) so we are close to breaking even then we start to save!
