Tiny Grinder, Big Quality
Some hand grinders focus on portability, others on grind quality, and others still on user-friendly design, but very few if any successfully bring together these three characteristics as effectively as the Timemore NANO Plus hand grinder. Weighing in at 0.8 pounds (360 grams) and standing just under 5 inches (12.5 centimeters), this diminutive hand mill is a full-range grinder, featuring 38mm conical dual-purpose burrs designed to efficiently grab and grind even the densest beans for espresso through French Press. The frame and internals are sturdy, too, consisting of aluminum alloy and 430 and 304 stainless steel. Small though it may be, the NANO Plus feels strong and is durable.
Repeatable Consistency
The NANO Plus, like all Timemore grinders, has a stepped grind adjustment system. The grind size is set by turning a dial on the bottom of the center burr. The dial, which is on a wheel attached to the axle, pushes the center burr closer to the outer burr when turned clockwise (creating a finer grind), and pulls the burr away from the outer burr when turned counterclockwise (creating a coarser grind). The system is easy to learn, especially since each “step” is accompanied by an audible click. The NANO Plus offers a full grind range, with espresso starting around 7 clicks from zero and pour over starting at around 15. See the manual for recommendations. Please note that the burrs may touch against each other just slightly at settings below 10 clicks.
Made To Travel
A grinder isn’t travel-friendly simply because of its size; it takes thoughtful details to make it work for life on the road. Perhaps the most obvious and unique feature of the NANO Plus is also what makes it so portable: its spring-assisted collapsible handle, which, when folded down against the body with the pommel removed and placed in the grinds-catch, shrinks the already tiny grinder to 5 inches tall by 3 inches wide. Timemore includes a canvas carry bag for travel and a sleek, branded brush to clear away retention under the button burr. Whether you’re an on-the-go brewer, or someone looking for a compact gear set for home, the Timemore NANO Plus hand grinder should be on your shortlist.

Comparison Of Premium Hand Grinders
The ascension of the grinder to its status as the most crucial piece of brewing gear is well deserved. More than anything else the grinder has the potential to make, or severely limit the flavor quality of brewed coffee.
