I know… contradictory: “one star… but ‘Yes, i’d recommend the product'” My problem was that it fried fish just fine, small/compact, love the magnetic plug for safety (often kids running around the table at a fish fry)… one setting (on or off) so it is easy to use. But. But… the male plug of the fryer cord that plugs into the female end of the outlet FUSED itself (melted) into the extension cord that we used to run from the garage to the sidewalk (we could not plug into the garage, too much gas & dust). To fix it, I literally had to cut the end of the cord off… and I need to buy a replacement plug that is a bit more heavy duty. Since this is a heating element, it pulls plenty of current, likely generating more than average heat… so I feel better with a heavier duty male plug-end anyway. In short – I love the product… bummed I need to spend money to fix it before I use it a second time. I attached a pic. For the record, though… the first fish fry was awesome! Looking forward to the second one!

This is based after first use. I washed it up and put oil up to the line inside. Cut up pork chops into cubes, dipped in egg white and corn starch and dipped into seasoned crumb mix. Let sit for 10 min.
Put about 3 cups of the dry ribs in the fryer and it did its job. They were crunchy and perfect in every way. It had enough wattage to keep the heat up.
I bought this for my cottage for doing English fish and chips but I think this will be my multi purpose fryer.
