Features and Performance The New Hobby features a lot of the industry essentials, which is great for such a small machine.

The 58mm portafilter, commercial grade group, and commercial style steam wand offer quality tools in crafting your own coffee drinks at home. Plus, the 3-way solenoid valve will keep your used coffee pucks dry for easy discarding (a feature you don't typically find in machines of this size). We have a lot of latte drinkers here at the office, so when we started preparing drinks it was quickly decided that the Hobby's steaming capability is its most impressive feature.

To see steam explode from such a small machine is something you really need to see. For more control, we worked with Bezzera to have this version of the Hobby include a commercial steam wand. Flip the steam switch, and when the ready light turns green, brace yourself for an explosive jet of steam from the commercial two-hole steam wand. 3-Liter Water Reservoir The average espresso machine is equipped with a 2-liter reservoir, by comparison, the New Hobby's holds 3 liters and has a visible level indicator to save you the hassle of checking if it's time to refill.

Chrome Plated Brass Group and Portafilter The New Hobby uses a version of Bezzera's BZ Group, a 58 mm, chrome plated brass group which is heated by the boiler. The commercial portafilter is also made of chrome plated brass and 58 mm in diameter. 3-Way Solenoid Valve Knock out dry pucks thanks to the New Hobby's 3-way solenoid valve which relieves pressure from the group after brewing, draining the excess water into the drip tray.
